About Clare Matheson

Clare Matheson, Little Green Change

Clare Matheson is the Founder and Director of Little Green Change.

She is also a judge at the Global Good Awards (Educational Excellence category), working with other experts in their field to recognise and celebrate educational best practice across the world; and an Executive Committee member at the Lyme Regis Business Association.

Clare has years of experience in both the environmental sector and the education sector, working for schools and organisations in the UK and Canada.

She has a Higher National Diploma in Landscape Design & Construction from Capel Manor College, and she enjoys gardening for wildlife, plant propagation, and growing food organically.

Organisations Clare has worked for include Thames Valley Learning Partnership (building this cross-school partnership from its launch through to its expansion, consisting of 11 secondary-aged schools), Eton College (in their Partnerships team from September 2019-August 2023), Burnaby Board of Trade in Canada (creating an Environmental Pledge and online information resource for their members), Islington Chamber of Commerce (delivering their Business Waste Recycling Project, and Islington’s first ever Business Give and Take Days), Tower Hamlets Homes (managing their environmental contracts and community-led projects including their grounds maintenance team, community food growing gardens, tree planting and other biodiversity improvements), and Tower Habitats (steering group member, and managing their biodiversity grant scheme).

"Clare is an absolute force of nature in her belief in providing top-quality educational opportunities for young people from a range of backgrounds. Her passion for social and environmental action, in particular, has lit many fires in young people's hearts across our network.

It is a testament to to her efficiency, organisation and peerless marketing skills that the [TVLP] network has expanded to eleven schools, with others beating down the door to join. Students across the network will thank her for creating life-enhancing and perspective-changing opportunities.

I recommend her wholeheartedly."
Tom Arbuthnott
Deputy Head (Partnerships), Eton College. June 2023.
"Clare is outstanding at providing opportunities for young people. Upon meeting her, it is evident that she has a true passion for getting everyone involved in environmental and social enterprises to improve the communities we live in.

Having worked with her on TVLP projects, her organisation is second to none and she is always willing to support initiatives for the environment in any way that she can. For example, she managed to secure water butts, apple trees, compost bins and bug hotels for the students of St Joseph’s Catholic High School after they showed enthusiasm at her ‘Make a Change’ environmental event, which only increased their determination to help our environment further. Working within the TVLP, Clare was able to bring together and create collaborative spaces between eleven schools from a variety of different backgrounds to further students education outside of the classroom. Speaking personally from my school, Clare gave opportunities to vulnerable students who may not have had these opportunities elsewhere and, as a result, made them passionate about pursuing different careers by showing them that work to improve the environment is possible.

Clare is whole-heartedly dedicated to raising awareness and initiatives to improve the environment. I would love to work with her again and would encourage others to do so."
Lauren Boland
Geography - Subject Lead, St Joseph's Catholic High School, Berkshire. June 2023.
"Clare worked with the Burnaby Board of Trade in the role of Environmental Sustainability Consultant for the purpose of developing an online workplace improvement resource called 'The Environmental Pledge.'

Clare's work on our Pledge project was nothing short of exceptional. She successfully designed the project framework, conducted all the necessary research, compiled several compelling original case studies, and developed the project in its entirety. In addition, Clare provided ongoing advice and recommendations to management on how best to execute and manage the program.

Clare's knowledge and experience in her field has proven to be invaluable for our organization, and without question the outstanding quality of the Pledge as an effective and practical tool for our membership would not have been possible without her hard work and dedication to its excellence.

It is with great pleasure that the Burnaby Board of Trade strongly recommends her for any endeavour she wishes to pursue."
Paul Holden
President & CEO, Burnaby Board of Trade, Canada. October 2011.

Describing Clare's success delivering the ICoC's Business Recycling Project:

"Clare is a highly professional and hard-working individual; upon hiring her it was soon clear that her capabilities far exceeded our expectations. Her project management skills were exceptional and her ability to use initiative was outstanding.

From liaising with service users, promoting the project and co-ordinating the project’s budget to being a passionate advocate of environmental best practice, her propensity to meet targets and her personable character make her an ideal candidate for any position in business.

I have no hesitation in recommending her to any corporation."
